Lexical Development: Research-based Principles for Vocabulary Teaching and Learning

TARGET AUDIENCE: Post-Intermediate and advanced ESL students, graduate ESL teachers, general public interested in lexical development and enhancement.
OBJECTIVES: The main objectives of this workshop are to provide a general view of the reemergence of interest in the long-neglected area of vocabulary acquisition, to inform about recent lexically-focused research trends, and to reflect on and problematize vocabulary teaching and learning habits. The workshop will consist of a short theoretical introduction and two practical sections oriented to analysis and discussion of vocabulary learning strategies as well as existing taxonomies.
